Guitar comedy is tough to pull off. I heard Bob Dylan was so bad at it that he settled for being a singer-songwriter instead. And then he kicked me in the balls for this lame lead in to wishing Stephen Lynch a happy birthday. He's 37 today, so here's an interview he did earlier this year.

Being a superhero is great. For instance, you get to wear your underwear over your pants.  Normally, that just draws disapproving stares. But not if your name is Captain Super or The Incredible Heap. All five of the comedians who are part of Jokes.com's Justice League of Hilarity possess the superhuman ability to make you laugh, especially when they're cracking on costumed crimefighters. 5. Stephen Lynch Superheroes should fight more realistic supervillains, like lying women. Stephen presents... Justice Guy. MORE VIDEO: Divorce isn't funny. Unless you're Stephen, then it's achingly poignant. And funny. 4. Greer Barnes If Greer were Black Batman, he'd cruise the streets in a sweet, pimped out batmobile. MORE VIDEO: That guy who was chasing you through the park last night? That was Greer. 3. Harland Williams The very idea of Harland squeezed into Wonder Woman's star-spangled, form-fitting costume is a strangely appealing one. MORE VIDEO: According to Harland, priests talk a little too much. And they resent your hollering back. 2. Ty Barnett Ty has some thoughts on the relationship between The Last Son Of Krypton and his tabloid reporter girlfriend. MORE VIDEO: Grandma has some mad ink, and it makes Ty proud. 1. Ian Bagg It's not easy being Spiderman, but Ian won't let the web-slinger make any excuses. Meth or no meth. MORE VIDEO: Remember the good old days when perverts drove vans? No? Because Ian longs for those days.

So, they say today is Cyber-Monday. Which, it turns out, is not the holiday when it's acceptable to talk dirty to random women over IM. Rather, everyone is shopping on the internet today. And it's been crazy so far. I heard two guys at ToysRUs.com just IM'd gunshots to each other (too-soon.org?). But there's no need for e-violence. Comedy Central has released a free stand-up compilation on iTunes and there's enough to go around for everyone.Just click here to launch iTunes and download Comedy Central Presents: 2008 Breakout Comedians, which features Demetri Martin, Brian Regan, Maria Bamford, Patton Oswalt and many other of the hottest hilarity peddlers on the hot hilarity peddling scene.

This past Friday, Central Park Summerstage filled Rumsey Playfield with 5,000+ comedy fans, blessed with an opportunity to see Julian McCullough, Mike Birbiglia, and Stephen Lynch in Central Park pro-gratis! Full report and more backstage photos after the jump. The field quickly filled up with rabid fans ready to descend upon the stage in an angry mob if it weren't for the 4 foot barricades separating them from the performers. To sweeten the deal everyone got a free Address the Mess tote bag! It was worth the price of admission alone. For personal amusement there was a reality show style "confessions" booth. However the crowd that day must have had some pretty dark secrets that they would not be easily lured into revealing. Equipped with a VIP pass I wandered into the backstage eager to put my paparazzi skills to the test. This is "Backstage" which was flowing with endless champagne and caviar - err make that a limited supply of Cheez-Its and beer. Julian McCullough reigned as the official Master of Ceremonies and did a marvelous job offering himself up as the mozzarella sticks-like appetizer for a steak dinner of Mike Birbiglia and an endless chocolate fountain dessert of Stephen Lynch. Mmm, delicious comedy! Birbigs regales the audience with tales of adventure and woe. I did not even see Stephen Lynch walk on stage. It's like he teleported straight from his dressing trailer. Once onstage he performed an extra long, extra special set. He played songs sure to spark dinner table conversations for the next month - on such topics as Manphrodites, Satan, and waiting for his AIDS test results. After the show Mike Birbiglia was presented with a pizza cake in honor of his 30th Birthday. Mike was touched. I didn’t believe it was actually a cake and not a pizza until I saw it with my own eyes. Amy Schumer, of Reality Bites Back fame, even stopped by for the celebration with her prom dates. And I'll leave you with a picture of Julian that I sold to Tiger Beat. You're welcome ladies. Also, the powers that be have announced that Comedy Central Summerstage will become an annual event - rejoice! and then start saving your invisible pennies.

Our sister site Indecision has been nominated for a Webby, which I guess makes us the Eric Roberts of Comedy Central blogs. [Indecision Forever] Okay, NASA is yesterday's news, let's all vote to get "Colbert" tattooed on some dude's back. [Scott's Back Is On the Line via Colbert Forums] "What did Jon Stewart mean when he referenced Muppet scat?" Well, when one Muppet and another Muppet love each other very much and eat a diet high in fiber... [Mahalo] Who's more powerful, Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert? [PopWatch] Demetri Martin prefers college crowds. [The Signal] Tim and Eric were totally Timandericy on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. [Videogum] Willie Barcena was going to be a cop before he got into comedy. That's why his comedy is so arresting </GONG>. [Punchline] Thomas Lennon "was the guy wearing acid-washed jeans with a blazer and a bow tie." [Chicago Sun-Times] Richard Lewis says Chicago is the greatest town for comedy ever. Duluth is going to be so pissed. [ABC] Stephen Lynch is "a musician trapped in the body of a comedian." I once got stuck in the body of my priest, but it didn't lead to any funny songs.
